These beautiful fernlike ornaments called Lichtenberg figures or Lightning Flowers may appear on the skin of a person struck by lightning. They are thought to be caused by the rupture of capillaries under the skin due to the passage of the lightning current as it flashes over the skin.

Prose du Transsibérien
I discovered the beautiful poem Prose du Transsibérien et de la Petite Jehanne de France in its 1913 collaborative book by Blaise Cendrars and Sonia Delauney as a teenager. It was hanging in my classroom. I always loved how the colors and the text interacted, how the art and the prose made sense together and it is still a great inspiration today.
